Chalkwalk Information
The theme of this year's Fine Arts Festival Theme is "Rolling Hills to Winding Streets."
The Vandergrift Fine Arts Festival invites your high school to participate in their First Annual Chalk Walk Competition to be held on Saturday, June 5, 2010 in Vandergrift, Pennsylvania.
Our chalk walk was inspired by the WNY High School Chalk Walk which is based on I Madonnari (street painters), an Italian tradition of street painting, that dates back to the 18th century. The Vandergrift Fine Arts Festival Committee would like to thank the Lewiston Arts Council for their support in the startup of Vandergrift's 1st Annual Southwest Pennsylvania High School Chalk Walk Competition.
The streets will be closed to traffic which will allow the public to watch the students as they work in downtown historic Vandergrift. We are looking forward to an exceptional display by our young adult artists.
APPLICATION DEADLINE March 31, 2010. Forms should include team members' names, home addresses and telephone numbers or e-mail addresses so the Festival Committee can send information to the students as well as the teacher in charge.

IMPORTANT: Application must be accompanied by a sketch of the team's proposed chalk mural. All sketches will be kept confidential. The Festival Committee reserves the right to reject a proposed mural it deems objectionable or inappropriate.
